The Caribbean’s first ever underground lab for processing cocaine has been found in the Dominican Republic.
Inside the lab, authorities seized about 460 pounds of the base ingredient in cocaine.
The lab was discovered under a grove of fruit trees on a ranch near a village west of santo domingo.
Police searched the property a week after two Colombians were arrested there on suspicion of drug charges, according to the attorney general's office.
U.S. officials said earlier this year that an estimated six percent of the cocaine bound for the us passes through the country.
