PEARLAND, Texas – A University of Texas freshman football player and League City, Texas, native was booked into the Pearland City Jail under suspicion of drinking and driving.

Police arrested 18-year-old Marcus Davis for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
Around 6:45 a.m., the Pearland Police Department was alerted by a concerned citizen that there was a possible drunk driver on the road.
The caller said the suspect was driving in a blue SUV and riding on the rim of a blown tire.
Officers located Davis and the vehicle at 1700 E. Broadway, and after conducting a field sobriety test, placed Davis under arrest.
Davis was booked at the Pearland City Jail. His bond was set at $1,500 for the DUI and $2,000 for the possession charge.  He has since posted bond.
Marcus Davis is a freshman defensive back for the University of Texas and has played in five games this season.
He is also the second UT player to be arrested this month for driving while intoxicated. D.J. Monroe was arrested two weeks ago for DWI.
The arrests come at a crucial time for the college team. The Longhorns are scheduled to play Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship in Dallas this week. If the team is victorious on Saturday, they could play for the national title.
