HARRIS COUNTY -- As high winds toppled a bunch of drought weakened trees in the Houston area on Christmas Day, one tree killed a man in northwest Harris County.
The trees need to be removed, but the cost of cleanup can get into the thousands.
In New Caney, Darryl and his wife, Linda, spent $2,000 getting rid of an old oak tree on Wednesday. It fell Christmas morning. It crushed their shed and just missed their home.
They had been worried about the tree falling, but also the price of removing it.
K & K Tree Services says it’s much cheaper, and safer, to remove the trees before they fall.
