STAFFORD, Texas -- The Stafford police officer who was shot during a traffic stop last Saturday spoke out publicly for the first time during a multi-agency news conference.
Officer Ann Carrizalez asked for the public’s help in locating the suspects who opened fire.
“If you could do anything to help us in this case, then you would be protecting the protectors,” she said.
Carrizalez pursued the suspects’ vehicle after being shot in the chest and in the face.
The chase ended in Houston several minutes later.
Police arrested Sergio Rodriguez almost immediately. He’s been charged with aggravated assault on an officer.
Also charged, but still on the run is Freddy Henriquez. A third individual, Daniel Cruz, is wanted for questioning.
Crimestoppers has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Carrizalez, who was wearing her bullet-proof vest, suffered only superficial injuries.
The married mother of two said she plans to return to the streets after spending some quality time with her family.
“I just want to give myself some time to relax and enjoy the beauty of life that I’ve been blessed to have more of,” she said.
