HOUSTON – Four men suspected in the robbery of a cell phone store Tuesday in north Houston were arrested after a chase ended in a crash, police said.

It happened at the Sprint store located near Cypresswood and Interstate 45.

Deputies said the men took Sprint store employees to the back of the store, got the phones they wanted, and money out of the safe, and then took off.

One of the store clerks got into his vehicle and followed the suspects and that is what started the chase. Precinct 4 constables and Harris County Sheriff’s deputies were also involved.

The chase ended after the suspects’ green van hit a traffic control signal located at Rankin Road.  The four suspects then bailed from the vehicle and they were all taken into custody, deputies said.

During the chase shots were fired at a store employee who was following so the suspects’ hands were tested for gunshot residue.

Six similar robberies have happened over the last several weeks so investigators are hoping the arrests might solve more cell phone robbery cases in the area.
