HOUSTON -- The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum has a new home in Houston.

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday at the Houston Light Guard Armory in the Museum District.

The U.S. Army created all black soldier units after the Civil War.  They became known as the Buffalo Soldiers for their tenacity and hair texture.

It’s the only exhibit of its kind in the country.

“I started with a little section in my garage and onto the kitchen table, and we ended up here. --It’s beyond my wildest dreams,” said the museum’s founder Cpt. Paul Matthews.
