HOUSTON — Service was restored Friday evening after a massive broken water main in southwest Houston left more than a thousand homes without water since Thursday, officials said.
However, a spokesman for Houston Public Works warned that residents will still need to boil the water before drinking, cooking, or making ice until test results come back.
Crews had been working quickly all day, but residents were still frustrated.
The break was in a 24-inch diameter water main in the middle of a field just west of the Fort Bend Toll Road.
A spokesman for Houston Public Works said the main ruptured on its own Thursday night.
