HOUSTON—Half a million lights were switched on along Post Oak Boulevard Thursday evening in front of the largest crowd the Uptown Holiday Lighting celebration has ever seen. More than 150,000 people lined the street to watch Santa Claus use a giant plug to illuminate 80 trees and building tops. An electrifying fireworks display followed the traditional lighting ceremony. Earlier in the evening, the crowd was treated to performances by the Houston Concert Band, Be an Angel Choir and the Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir. There were several street closures before and during the event. All roads were back open by 10 p.m.
