HOUSTON—An investigation is under way after two people were robbed and their cab driver was shot in the driveway of a Bellaire home.
The cab driver had picked them up from a restaurant in the 5900 block of Bellaire Boulevard at about 11:50 p.m. Bellaire police said a man and a woman followed them home from the restaurant.
When the taxi pulled into the driveway of the home in the 4300 block of Phil a man walked up to the cab and demanded money from the driver, police said. He fired one shot which grazed the cab driver’s leg, while a woman demanded the female passenger’s purse and took the other passenger’s wallet, before fleeing, police said.
The cab driver was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. He told police he did not notice anyone was following them, until he turned into the driveway.
Bellaire police believe the male and female suspects may have been involved in another robbery just before this one.
