HOUSTON—A man who authorities say roamed East Texas posing a Drug Enforcement Administration agent has been sentenced to six months in jail and five years’ probation.

David Brian Webb was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Ron Clark. Webb faced up to 15 years, but authorities said they never found evidence that he harmed anyone or stole any drugs.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Webb’s ruse included fake badges and a fake patrol car. The newspaper reported that he convinced various officers he was a federal agent and once talked to students about drug use.
The newspaper previously reported that Webb was given deferred adjudication for posing as a SWAT officer in Harris County. He worked briefly as a police officer in Roman Forest, near Houston, but was fired.
