CONROE, Texas – A Montgomery County deputy shot a naked man at a home near Lake Conroe early Thursday morning after responding to the scene of a bizarre home invasion.
Deputies were called to the home in the April Sound subdivision of SH 105 around 4:30 a.m.
When they got there, deputies said the suspect – completely nude – came running out of the home with a gun.
Deputies said the suspect pointed the gun at them. After he ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon, one of the deputies opened fire, hitting the suspect in the shoulder.
The suspect, a 45-year-old man who also lives in the April Sound subdivision, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Investigators spoke with the elderly homeowner, who said he was awakened to someone banging on his front door just after 4 a.m.
The homeowner said when he opened the door, the suspect came in, ranting incoherently about snakes being after him.
Once inside, the homeowner said the man took off all his clothes. At some point, the homeowner was able to get to a phone to call 911.
The suspect was the only person injured in the ordeal.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy who shot the suspect will be placed on administrative leave.
Deputies said the suspect could face multiple criminal charges.
