KINGWOOD, Texas -- Houston firefighters had their hands full when a large home in Kingwood went up in flames late Sunday.
A family of five managed to get out of their 3,000 square foot home at Willow Ridge and Wood Bridge when the fire broke out around 10:30 p.m.
The homeowners told the Kingwood Observer they were just about to go to bed when they smelled smoke. The parents ran upstairs to wake up their four children and get them out of the house.
While firefighters battled the 2-alarm blaze, the roof in the back of the house collapsed.
Firefighters had a own scare when they couldn't reach one of their crews on the radio, and thought they might be trapped inside.
The missing firefighters later turned up.
No one was hurt but the house was heavily damaged.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
