HOUSTON—A Houston jury has ordered Kelsey Seybold clinic to pay a patient $1.9 million.

Lauren Williams said the hospital botched her hysterectomy, sending her into a coma and leaving her with permanent damage.

Williams said her doctor never told her a resident would perform part of the surgery.

“He was the only one I spoke with. He was the only one that saw me prior to the surgery, that morning of the surgery. There was no reason for me to think that anyone else would be doing the procedure, but him,” Williams said.

The hospital responded with a statement Monday via email:

“Kelsey-Seybold’s concern is always for our patients. Because the matter is ongoing, Kelsey-Seybold must respectfully refrain from commenting at this time.”
