HOUSTON—Crime Stoppers and Houston police need the public’s help to capture a gang of unknown teens who shot and killed a 15-year-old boy Tuesday morning, Harris County Homicide investigators said.
It happened when Alberto Cardenas and two friends drove to a home in the Villages of Spring Oaks subdivision on Rustic Oak Ct. around 1 a.m. so one of the friends could pick up some clothes.
That friend went inside, while the others waited in the car.
But investigators said when the friend returned, he was confronted by a group of five teenagers ranging in ages from 14 to 18.
The oldest suspect pulled out a gun and forced him to surrender his car keys.
The suspects then ordered all three victims into the home.
Investigators said the suspects started burglarizing the place, and while they were distracted, the victim who lived there ran into a bedroom and called police.
As the suspects were leaving, one of them shot Cardenas. He died at the hospital.
Investigators said the suspects fled on foot.
Officers found two bicycles nearby that they believe may have been ridden by the suspects.
The same group of teens is suspected in at least three car burglaries on the same street, prior to the shooting, investigators said.
