HOUSTON – A North Houston couple has been arrested and charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury after a toddler died Friday at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, police said.
Houston Police Department homicide investigators were called the 9600 block of West Montgomery at about 11:30 a.m. on April 25 after the child was transported to the hospital. Police said they found the 13-month-old boy had extensive internal injuries inflicted over a period of time.
Police said Trachell Foster, 23, left her son in the care of her boyfriend Damien Lamont Henderson, 23, while she went to a job interview. Police said Henderson admitted to striking the toddler repeatedly with a belt that day, and on several previous occasions.
The toddler was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
