HOUSTON—A former Nassau Bay sergeant was charged Monday with tampering with evidence and theft by a public servant.
Theresa Relken is accused of taking money and pills from the department’s property room, an area she was responsible for managing. Investigator said she took $500 in cash and destroyed or hid prescription pills that were seized in an investigation done by a fellow NBPD officer.
Harris County prosecutors said they traced the problems to Relken last month.
If convicted, Relken faces up to ten years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine on the tampering case and six months to two years in the state jail and up to a $10,000 fine on the theft charge.
