HOUSTON – One student suffered minor injuries Thursday after several students got involved in altercations at Marshall High School, Fort Bend Independent School District officials said.

The fights happened during lunch at the school campus located at 1220 Buffalo Run in Missouri City.

“There are extra police and District administrators at our school, and we are investigating this situation. Appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken,” the school’s principal Cozette Church-Gaston said via a letter sent to parents.

The principal said a lockdown was implemented to assist with the investigation.

“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will update you upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Church-Gaston said.

On Friday the principal said they are taking extra precautions, including having extra officers at the campus, reducing the passing time between classes, prohibiting backpacks and serving students sack lunches to be eaten in the classrooms.
