AZLE, Texas - Azle police and the Tarrant Regional Water District are investigating the drowning of a five-year-old girl.

Pipper Sasnett was swimming with her family Wednesday evening when she went under water at Shady Grove Park on Eagle Mountain Lake.

Her family believes she may have slipped on a drop off below the surface. Jennifer Christian, a cousin, said her own daughter fell into an underwater hole on the Fourth of July.

The water district said it doesn't maintain the surface below the water, even in designated swimming areas. It said there are inherent risks to swimming in any lake.

Sasnett's family said they asked police to put out a warning sign after last week's incident. That will be part of the ongoing investigation.
