HOUSTON—A woman was severely injured Thursday night when she was attacked by her pit bull.

It happened around 8 p.m. at a home at Park York and Mason Road in west Harris County.

Precinct 5 constables said the woman’s husband heard a commotion in another room, and when he went to investigate, he found his wife on the floor.

The family’s pit bull was on top of her.

Constables said the man moved the dog and called 911.

The woman was taken via Life Flight to Memorial Hermann.

Constables said she suffered trauma to her head and face.

Animal control officers were expected to pick the dog up on Friday.
