Brazoria County woman charged with possession, distribution of child porn

RICHWOOD, Texas—A Brazoria County woman has been charged with distribution and possession of child pornography – a first in the Southern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney Jose Angel Moreno said Wednesday.

Richwood resident Carrie Louise Kelly, 29, appeared before a judge Wednesday and will remain in federal custody pending a detention hearing set for October 8.

According to the indictment, Kelly distributed and possessed the child porn in April 2010.

If convicted, Kelly could face up to 20 years in prison for the distribution charge and up to 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

Both charges carry a maximum fine of $250,000.

The indictment came after an investigation by members of the Texas City office of the FBI, the Richwood Police Department and the Pearland Police Department.
