MISSOURI CITY, Texas – The body of a missing Marshall man was found Monday afternoon in a Missouri City subdivision.
Jessie James Washington was traveling from Huntsville to Marshall with his wife and two young grandkids on January 22 when they got lost and ran out of gas in Missouri City.
Washington left his family in their car in the Lake Shore Harbor subdivision to search for gas and was never seen again.
Police learned he was missing when they found his family, still in their car, around 9:20 p.m. that night.
Texas EquuSearch joined the effort to find Washington, recruiting volunteers to canvass the area over the weekend.
Then, just after noon on Monday, a body matching Washington’s description was pulled from a flood control pond in the Lake Harbor Subdivision, near where Washington was last seen.
The Galveston County Medical Examiner positively identified the body as Washington's Tuesday afternoon. The official cause of death was drowning.
