HOUSTON—The woman accused of stabbing two children has been appointed an attorney to represent her case.

Bond has not been set for Regina Umagat, because the judge is trying to determine if the Guam native is a flight risk.

A neighbor said Umagat, 28, ran to her home Wednesday night, covered in blood, confessing to having stabbed her two young cousins.

Investigators said Umagat was watching the kids at their grandparents’ home on Greens Road when the stabbings occurred.

The victims – a 10-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl – were still hospitalized Friday.

The boy is said to be in serious condition, but he’s been able to talk with investigators.

The girl is in critical condition with a punctured lung.

Umagat has been charged with two counts of injury to a child.

Excuse ME!!!! She is being charged with "Injury to a Child?" I suppose that's a misdemeaner. How about ATTEMPTED MURDER, WILLFUL INJURY TO A CHILD? It seems as if these days you can do all sorts of things to a child and get away with it, but do the same thing to some dude in a bar and you'd be up on attempted murder charges. What is wrong with our court systems. I would think that the penalty would be much higher for doing something to a defenseless child than to some guy that has a chance of defending himself against his attacker.

pernat.....your trying to make sense of our legal system. Your trying to use logic and common sense...both of which is seriously lacking in our legal system.
