HOUSTON—Patrons braved long lines Thursday at several area shopping centers for the chance to grab the new Air Jordan sneakers, which went on sale at midnight.
“They’re just one of a kind,” said Patrick Tilly, who had stood in a line at North Line Commons Shopping Center since early Thursday morning. “It’s just the name.”
The shoes are priced at between $100 and $200 a pair. The Houston Police Department was called to respond after some patrons grew rowdy and broke a window.
The lines were also long at Gulf Gate Mall, and at a store on Cullen Boulevard as well.
A lot of people wanted the shoes even if they already had several pairs of older Air Jordans.
Chris Galvan said he had five pairs but needed more.
“I can’t get enough of them,” said Galvan.
Others in line agreed.
“They’re not just any shoes,” said Jayla Jackson. “They’re Jordans.”
