An estimated 143 million U.S. consumers could be affected by a cybersecurity attack carried out against Equifax, one of the nation's three largest credit-reporting companies. Normally one of the first things victims are told to do is to go to a credit-reporting company and request their records to make sure that there are no unauthorized accounts or charges on their existing accounts.

At least 15 dead in Mexico earthquake
A major earthquake off Mexico's southern coast killed at least 15 people, with the president saying Friday it was the biggest in a century to hit the country. Houses and at least one hotel toppled, electricity was cut and people fled into the streets in panic. Luis Felipe Puente, Mexico's civil defense chief, told the Televisa network that 10 people had died in Oaxaca state, three in Chiapas and two in Tabasco.
Hurricane Irma: South Florida under hurricane warning as storm approaches U.S. mainland
South Florida was under a hurricane warning Friday as thousands of people fled north out of harm's way or hunkered down to try to ride out deadly Hurricane Irma when it comes ashore early Sunday. The storm, which has killed at least 11 people since roaring out of the open Atlantic Ocean, slammed into the Turks and Caicos Islands early Friday.
