MT. HOOD, Ore. – A climber fell on Mount Hood Saturday morning, prompting rescuers to rush to the mountain.
The climber fell on the south side of Mount Hood, according to Steve Rollins with Portland Mountain Rescue.
Rollins said the climber fell into one of the fumerals, which is where steam and sulfer vent from the volcano. The fumeral’s gasses can be life threatening, Rollins said.
The climber reportedly had some spinal injuries.
Mountain rescuers were expecting to reach the climber around 12:30 p.m.
