KILLEEN, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas police officer has died of a gunshot wound suffered two days previously while trying to serve a warrant.

A Killeen Police Department statement says Detective Charles "Chuck" Dinwiddie died Sunday afternoon at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple of a gunshot wound to the face suffered early Friday.

Police spokeswoman Carroll Smith says 49-year-old Marvin Louis Guy of Killeen remains in Bell County Jail charged with three counts of attempted capital murder.
