CHANNELVIEW, Texas—The brother of the 17-year-old student stabbed to death at Spring High School wanted to tell everyone all about his brother.
His mother demanded that his identity be concealed for fear of retaliation.
“I’ve cried so much and I can’t do anything without him,” said Broussard's brother.
He claimed Joshua Broussard had gotten into a fight with another student earlier this week. He said his brother was afraid to go to school in the morning because of threatening messages he read on social media.
“And they said we’re killing people. So he read on Twitter and said, 'Oh man, I don’t want to go to school today. I’m scared,” said Broussard's brother.
He said Broussard’s grandmother made him go to school because he had already been absent too many times.
“So he went to school and got stabbed and just collapsed,” said Broussard's brother.
Broussard’s father, Jason Broussard, said his son loved to ride horses and rope cattle and that he had never been involved in gangs.
“It wasn’t any gang thing. He’s not involved in gangs. Nothing like that,” Jason said.
He also questioned whether school administrators did enough to prevent what happened. And he’s asked activist Quanell X to help the family get answers.
“What is so sad about all of this is that this death was preventable,” Quanell X said. “This conflict was preventable.”
