HOUSTON -- Some Summerwood residents are heading to Commissioners Court Tuesday to express concern about a rig that is next door to the subdivision.
The neighbors said the rig is noisy and that it smells at certain times. Some people said they were concerned about possible health problems.
The residents had differing opinions on what the exploration company is drilling for. Some people said they believe it’s oil, others said natural gas.
11 News checked the permits and found that an exploration company has permits to drill for both.
In a voicemail message, a representative from the exploration company said the big rig is coming down and what will be put in its place is a smaller completion rig. It will only operate during the day.
During Monday afternoon, it appeared that the bigger rig had already been taken down.
