BEAUMONT, Texas – A grand jury has indicted a woman on charges of injury to a child after she was captured on video slapping her 8-month-old baby.
The video, captured by a neighbor on May 13 near downtown Beaumont, shows 27-year-old Tieralyn Angelle appearing to repeatedly slap her baby as the child sat in a stroller crying.
The neighbor called police.
Beaumont police detectives were able to identify and locate Angelle at a residence in Port Arthur. Detectives interviewed her about the incident then booked her into the Jefferson County Jail on a probation revocation warrant for a prior unrelated burglary of a habitation charge.
Detectives also located the 8-month-old baby girl and she was placed with Child Protective Services. The infant did not appear to be injured.
If convicted of the third-degree felony, Angelle could face up to 10 years in prison.
