Another potential successor for Rick Smith as the Houston Texans GM is off the board.

Dallas Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay, who was on the team's public list of candidates, has pulled his name from consideration.

McClay will remain in Dallas, where he has a very close working relationship with owner Jerry Jones and his family in the Cowboys organization.

McClay is a native Houstonian who played collegiately at Rice. That made him a natural inclusion for the Texans, but McClay opted to join new Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst in sticking with his old franchise rather than making the jump to the Texans.
