Rockets guard James Harden has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.
It is Harden’s third Player of the Week award this season and 16th of his career.
Harden averaged a league-best 34 points per game, 9 assists, 7.3 rebounds and 1.67 steals and led Houston to a 3-0 record for the week.
On Nov. 27 against the Brooklyn Nets, Harden scored 37 points and recorded 10 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks, marking the first time a player posted those numbers in a single game since Harden did it himself last January (before then, Kevin Durant was last to do it with the Oklahoma City Thunder in February 2014).
Against Brooklyn, Harden also hit a league-season-high-tying eight 3-pointers and averaged 5.3 3-pointers made for the week. Harden has 16 more 3-pointers made than any other player in the NBA this season.
On Nov. 29 against the Indiana Pacers, Harden posted game-highs of 29 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. He finished the week with game-highs of 36 points and 9 assists against the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 3, which was the Rockets’ seventh-consecutive win.
Harden has posted at least 20 points and 7 assists in all 22 games this season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the previous record for the most consecutive games with at least 20 points and 5 assists was 14 from Allen Iverson in the 2005-06 season.
