Houston Astros’ brass walked the “orange” carpet during Major League Baseball’s World Series documentary premiere inside Cullen Performance Hall the University of Houston Tuesday night.
Hundreds of Astros fans bought $25 tickets to see the show. Many wearing Astros jerseys, cheering and hoisting banners crowded the auditorium. Manager AJ Hinch and ‘Stros legend Jeff Bagwell savored Hollywood treatment with a twist.
“I have never seen an orange carpet before to walk in to a show,” Bagwell said.
MLB’s newest documentary follows the Astros every up and down of their heart-stopping, seven-game World Series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The chance to see it first proved irresistible to some fans.
“Well after all it’s actually the luckiest part I can have in my life,” said Devan Bundick, 8, of Clear Lake.
“Sometimes it was painful (watching the games live),” Jenna Pel, an Astros fan said. “But knowing how it ends now, it’s going to be great watching it again.”
Producers told KHOU 11 News there are surprises, though.
“There’s a moment you’ll see in the film where we are at Altuve’s house before game three and there’s a special family moment we were able to document,” said producer Danny Field.
If critics exist, none showed up Tuesday night. Everyone in the audience gave the show a standing ovation.
