"I haven't felt this good in a long, long time from a mental standpoint and physical standpoint," Manziel said. "I felt like the ball came out well today."

Johnny Manziel laid out his path toward returning to pro football after taking part in Texas A&M's pro day on Tuesday.

“If nothing pops up, then I’m going to play in the CFL,” Manziel told reporters after he threw some passes in front of representatives from all 32 NFL teams.

Manziel, a former Heisman Trophy winner, had been in talks to join the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats earlier this year, although no deal was finalized. His appearance at his alma mater's pro day on Tuesday follows his participation at the University of San Diego's pro day last week.

"I haven't felt this good in a long, long time from a mental standpoint and physical standpoint," Manziel said (via NFL Network). "I felt like the ball came out well today."

Manziel, 25, hasn't played in the NFL since the 2015 season. He was cut by the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him with the 22nd overall pick in 2014, in March 2016 amid off-the-field issues.

Manziel said Tuesday that his next stop was the The Spring League, a developmental league based in Texas that begins next month.
