Deputies shoot robbery suspect in north Harris County

The suspect was then transported to a local hospital. No deputies were injured.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Deputies shot a robbery suspect Wednesday evening following a chase in north Harris County.

Deputies with Precinct 4 Constable’s Office were chasing the suspect when the pursuit ended at an apartment complex in the 13000 block of Ella Boulevard. Deputies say the suspect got out of the car and threatened officers with a gun. Deputies then shot at the suspect, and he returned fire.

The suspect was shot multiple times and was transported to the hospital. No deputies were injured.

Officials say the suspect is accused of robbing a Metro PCS store earlier Wednesday. Deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery occurring at the store in the 22600 block of Aldine Westfield Road.

They say two suspects left the scene, and a deputy saw the getaway car in the 8300 block of FM 1960. The driver refused to stop, leading authorities on a chase to a dead-end street in the 4100 block of Wynngate Drive.

Police say the suspects then ran out of the car into a heavily wooded area. Officials caught one of the suspects, identified as Justice Toran, but the other suspect got away. Police then set up a perimeter around the area, putting several schools within that perimeter on lockdown.

Around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said the other suspect emerged from the wooded area and was spotted a couple of blocks from there. Deputies say that suspect hijacked a car at gunpoint. The victim then called 911, and authorities were able to locate the car. That's when the chase began, ending with the deputy-involved shooting.
