HARRIS COUNTY – A man accused of stealing from Harvey victims is behind bars thanks to alert neighbors and the Nextdoor app.
Precinct 5 investigators believe Arthur Douglas, 56, broke into several homes in the Maplewood neighborhood of southwest Houston.
He is charged with a November burglary of a home in the 5700 block of Braeswood. The house was vacant after being flooded during Hurricane Harvey.
The homeowner posted surveillance photos on Nextdoor showing a man stealing a television.
Investigators say when Douglas knocked on several doors in the same neighborhood this week posing as a contractor, one homeowner recognized him from the Nextdoor post. She called Precinct 5.
