HOUSTON - Tens of thousands of people bundled up and lined the streets of downtown Houston Thursday to watch the floats, giant balloons and entertainers at the H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade.
You can re-watch the entire parade broadcast from KHOU 11 right here.
This year’s parade featured actress and Houston native Chandra Wilson as the Grand Marshal, best known for her role on the hit TV series “Grey’s Anatomy.” Starting at age 5, Wilson performed for 10 years with Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS). She also performed with Houston’s Ensemble Theatre and was honored with a Rising Star Award for her professional accomplishments. She is an alumna of Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Of course, Santa Claus and Tom Turkey made an appearance, along with the Apache Belles and country music star RaeLynn, who performed on the new Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo float.
But the loudest applause of all may have been for Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, who rode his float on a giant recliner representing his Gallery Furniture store. Mack won hearts worldwide when he opened his store to hundreds of Hurricane Harvey evacuees. Mack invited Harvey survivors back to his store Thursday for a Thanksgiving dinner.
The floats and performers all appeared under the theme of "Houston is Thankful; Houston is Strong; Houston is Tradition and Houston is Family."
Great Day Houston’s Deborah Duncan served as the parade’s emcee.
