HOUSTON - How early is too early for Christmas?
"It seems like it gets earlier and earlier every year, but I think people love the season," said Ben Husband.
Even though it's November, the holiday spirit is upon us with decorations up in Memorial City and Highland Village.
"Right now, I think we should be talking about Thanksgiving," Billy Tillman said.
Lavonia Johnson has another take.
"With all that's going on, it gets people in the mood and kind of lifts people's spirits a little bit," she said.
It's a mood programmers at Sunny 99.1, or KODA, say they're tapping into by launching Christmas music this Friday afternoon, nearly a week before before Thanksgiving.
The early launch is something they say they've done for years.
"Because of the storm and the things we've been through as a community, it's as if there's a sense of comfort when we go back to providing this holiday tradition," said Marc Sherman, senior vice president of programming at iHeart Media Houston.
Highland Village put up its decorations in mid-October to raise awareness for a shopping card that benefits the American Cancer Society.
