10lb. baby boy born on Beltway 8 en route to birthing center

During the hour and fifteen minute drive, Jonathan never pulled over.

HOUSTON - A baby boy was born in the family car on Beltway 8 while on the way to the birthing center - and it was all captured on video.

The video shows a mom in the last stages of labor. Lesia Pettijohn and her husband Jonathan had been driving to a center in Pasadena for over an hour and fifteen minutes when their baby boy decided he was ready to join the world.

The Pettijohns have two other children. With their births, Lesia says they got to the hospital way too early. So this time, she decided to wait a little longer - too long, as it turned out.

During the drive, Jonathan never pulled over and he never took his hand off of his go-pro camera.

"The only reason I would pull over is if there is something wrong that needed to be dealt with immediately," said Jonathan.

When they got to the birthing center, the staff was amazed that Lesia had self-delivered a healthy, 10 lb. baby boy in the family's minivan.

They named their baby Josiah. Jonathan is a machinist. The young couple that married three years ago say they plan to have more children.
