HOUSTON -- After 43 years of international flare, food and fun, the Houston International Festival continues to roll out all-new stops.
This year, the festival, set in Downtown Houston on April 20-21 and April 27-28 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., will host daily Carnival parades, and is introducing the Bombon DJ stage, a host of all-new, high-energy performances, inspirational music on Festival Sundays and a Kroger-sponsored Kids Free Day on April 21 for children under the age of 12.
These new features accompany the family-friendly festival traditions that guests anticipate annually including musical performances, artisan exhibits and tasty exotic cuisine.
“We’re excited to be welcomed by the Houston community year after year. We know that festival guests expect to have fun, learn and truly feel like they’ve stepped out of Houston and into another part of the world. We’re glad to not only spotlight a new country, but to also bring in new attractions this year that guests have never seen before and the return of a few old favorites,” explains Kim Stoilis, president and chief executive officer of the Houston International Festival.
This year, the Houston International Festival will feature:
A Modified Layout: A modified layout that will offer more attractions in Tranquility Park, including the Bud Light World Music Stage, Chevron Brazil Living Museum and the Green Mountain Energy Kids’ World. The Bud Light World Music stage will host performances by Bootsy Collins, The Wailers, Los Lobos and Aaron Neville. Additionally, the Library Plaza will host the Sister Cities International Stage and the festival Wine Bar. This location modification accommodates the construction in Sam Houston Park, where several festival functions were hosted in past years. View the full festival map here.
A Carnival Parade: Traditional Brazilian Carnival parades will take place daily. All of the energy, costumes, music and dance that are home to the native Rio de Janeiro parade will be highlighted during each day of the festival. Click here for the festival’s schedule, updated regularly.
