HOUSTON – A man who ran over his wife and daughter following a domestic dispute Thursday has been charged and booked into the Harris County Jail, according to Harris County District Attorney's Office.
It happened at the Westward Square Apartments on Gulfton, across the street from Benevidas Elementary School.
Witnesses said the couple was arguing around 2:30 p.m. when the man, Tamiru Etana Gillede, left the complex, but came back and drove up on a sidewalk, striking the woman and child.
“His son told him to stop,” one witness said.
The 10-year-old daughter, identifed as Dibora Kasaye, was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital with severe head injuries. The wife, 29-year-old Alemestayhey Kasaye, was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with a broken jaw and other injuries.
Detectives are not sure why the couple was fighting.
Police said he was trying to leave for work when she tried to stop him.
Gillede has been charged with aggravated assault and injury to a child. He was given no bond.
