SUGAR LAND, Texas—Sugar Land police have arrested three men, including one in a wheelchair, in connection with a rash of car burglaries in the area.
Jose Gutierrez, 32; Luis Dominguez, 21; and Jose Vasquez, 24, are all facing charges of burglary of a motor vehicle and engaging in organized crime.
Police believe the suspects may be responsible for at least 10 crimes in Sugar Land, and possibly more in nearby areas.
Gutierrez, Dominguez and Vasquez are being held in the Fort Bend County Jail on $5,000 bond apiece.
Police apprehended the trio on February 4, shortly after a car burglary on Reed Road.
After hearing about that break-in over the radio, an officer, who was conducting surveillance in a Bally Total Fitness parking lot on the Southwest Freeway, reportedly noticed a pickup thought to have been involved in previous crimes.
When he stopped the truck, the officer said he found stolen GPS devices and other electronics inside.
Police said Vasquez later admitted that he, Dominguez and Gutierrez "were being stupid and riding around breaking into cars."
Police said more charges are expected in the case.
