HOUSTON— A suspect was taken into custody Saturday evening following a SWAT standoff at a southwest Houston apartment, according to Houston police.
Lamarcus Christmas, 34, was barricaded inside a unit at the Cameron Village Apartments in the 12900 block of South Post Oak.
Christmas' 36-year-old ex-girlfriend filed a complaint with the police Friday, claiming he stalked and threatened her.  Missouri City police went to serve Christmas with a warrant for the offense Saturday morning.
“When officers were talking to him around 10:45 this morning, we were trying to convince him to turn himself in on the terroristic threat warrant and he threatened to harm the officers at the scene and himself if we went in and tried to take him into custody,” said Captain Dwayne Williams, Missouri City Police Department.
After that, HPD SWAT was called to the scene.
SWAT released tear gas into the apartment shortly before 5 p.m. and Christmas gave up without further incident.
Police did not find any weapon in the home.
Police said Christmas has a previous conviction for burglary.
