TEXAS CITY, Texas — A purse thief stranded a woman and her handicapped son for hours at a bowling alley, but an officer earned high praise by coming to her rescue.
Regina Frost, 50, of Texas City, called The Daily News saying Cpl. Donald Cox, of the Texas City police, arrested a suspect in the case and tracked down her house and car keys.
“My whole life got turned upside down,” Frost said of the Jan. 22 incident at AMF Star Lanes, 2404 Palmer Highway. “Officer Cox’s due diligence found my purse that contained my whole life.”
Chastity Helen Tackett, 34, remained jailed Tuesday on a $32,500 bond, charged with theft, Texas City police Capt. Brian Goetschius said. Tackett also was arrested on two misdemeanor charges, which accuse her of possessing controlled substances, Goetschius said.
