HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man died after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a highway in northwest Harris County on Saturday.
According to deputies, a woman driving a black Volkswagen Jetta just entered inbound Highway 290 near W. Sam Houston Parkway around 8:45 p.m. and checked over her shoulder to change lanes.
When she turned back around a pedestrian suddenly appeared in her lane.
She put on the brakes but was not able to stop in time and struck the man.
The woman stopped and waited for police to arrive.
The victim, who did not have any identification on him, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges are expected to be filed aginst the driver.
