KATY, Texas — A man arrested in connection with the hit-and-run death of an elderly woman in Katy appeared in court Monday.
Cory Christopher Bonnefin, 20, was arrested and charged Saturday with accident involving injury. Police said a tip lead them to Bonnefin.
He is accused of hitting Irene Bourgeois, 78, as she walked across the 400 block of South Mason Road around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored truck fleeing the scene southbound on South Mason.
According to court documents, a woman who was in the truck with Bonnefin at the time, urged him to go back to the scene, but he refused.
