LA MARQUE, Texas — Six La Marque students have been assigned to the district’s alternative education program as a result of a fight after a basketball game Jan. 13, said a school district spokeswoman.
It was unclear Tuesday what grades the students attended.
The school district’s police department had completed its investigation of the fight and turned the results over to the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney’s office for further review for possible criminal charges, said La Marque school district spokeswoman Margaret Simon.
Manvel beat La Marque High School’s varsity basketball team, 60-45, but the fight did not break out until after the game was over and most of the players were off the court, said Mike Bass, athletic director for Alvin Independent School District. Manvel is part of the Alvin district.
