HOUSTON -- A judge sentenced a Katy woman, who pleaded guilty Wednesday in a murder-for-hire plot, to five years deferred adjudication, which is essentially a type of probation.
Catherine Shamp, 38, pleaded guilty to solicitation of capital murder.
Procesutors said Shamp tried to hire her daughter's boyfriend to kill David Shamp for
$20,000.
In court Wednesday morning David Shamp cried as he told the judge he did not want his wife to go to prison.
The couple's teenage daughter had also been accused in the murder-for-hire plot, but a grand jury cleared her last month.
