HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a Houston man accused of drugging and raping a teenage relative.
Hector Martinez, 43, is charged with sexual assault of a child.
Investigators say the alleged assault occurred at the victim’s home on May 1, 2010.
The victim told police that Martinez was at the home with her that day when he put a rag over her mouth and nose as she was lying on the couch, causing her to pass out.
She said she couldn’t remember anything after that, but when she woke up, she was not wearing all of her clothes and felt dizzy.
The victim told investigators that she asked Martinez what happened, and he told her it was something he’d been wanting to do since he met her.
Soon after that, he left the apartment, and the victim called a friend over and told them about the assault.
According to court documents, the victim wrote a letter to her father describing what happened to her and ran away from home.
The father eventually called her and asked her to come back, and they reported the assault to police on October 4, 2010.
On January 21, 2011, the victim gave birth to a stillborn baby. Investigators were able to obtain DNA samples from the baby’s body and Martinez. DNA tests concluded that there was a 99 percent probability that Martinez fathered the child.
Charges were filed on February 6, 2012.
