HOUSTON – Police were on the hunt Monday for a woman who allegedly robbed a handicapped college student and abandoned him at a Houston motel.
Jamie Sue Vaughn, 28, is charged with aggravated robbery.
According to investigators, the victim met the suspect after calling an escort service he found on a local website.
The victim, a 27-year-old student at the University of Houston-Clear Lake who suffers from multiple sclerosis and is confined to a wheelchair, told police that he wanted to "preach" to the suspect about living a better life.
He said he and the suspect agreed that she would come pick him up at his parents’ home, and they would spend an hour together for $100.
The victim said when the suspect showed up at his parents’ house, she helped get him into the passenger seat of her car, and loaded his wheelchair in the trunk.
Once inside, the victim said the suspect told him she had a gun and demanded his wallet.
The victim complied, and the suspect drove them to a convenience store on El Dorado.
Police said there were three transactions on the victim’s account at an ATM there that day – two for $202, and one for $142.
After withdrawing the money, the victim said the suspect told him she needed to get gas.
He said she drove them to a Shell station at Old Galveston Road and El Dorado, where an unidentified man got into the car with them.
That man reportedly told the victim that he also had a gun, and demanded the victim’s debit card again.
Police said the man used the victim’s card to buy gas at the Shell station.
The victim said the man also demanded his ring, which was a high school class ring that belonged to the victim’s deceased brother.
The victim said the man forcibly removed the ring from his finger.
Then, the victim said the suspects drove him to a Howard Johnson motel near I-45 and Dixie Farm, where they left him on the ground with his wheelchair.
According to court documents, the victim identified Vaughn as the female suspect from a photo lineup on February 9, 2012.
Charges were filed that same day.
As of Monday, Vaughn was not in custody. The identity of the male suspect was not known.
