HOUSTON – Three burglary suspects were arrested this week after their getaway vehicle ran out of gas, Harris County deputies said.
Kassandra Beltran, 17; Raymond Paige, 19; and Kolby Fleeks, 20, are charged with burglary of a habitation.
According to investigators, the trio burglarized two homes on the morning on January 24, 2012.
The first incident happened around 9 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Ashland in Channelview.
Investigators said the suspects kicked in the door, but were quickly confronted by the people who lived in the apartment.
The suspects fled the scene in a red Jeep, but not before swiping a TV from the victims, deputies said.
About 30 minutes later, investigators said the same suspects kicked in the door of a home in the 800 block of Doncrest in Channelview.
Deputies said the suspects told that homeowner to get in a closet, and then proceeded to burglarize her home.
The suspects fled, and deputies were called to the scene.
While they were taking the Doncrest homeowner’s statement, a patrol deputy located the suspects and their vehicle nearby. They had run out of gas.
All three were arrested and were being held in the Harris County Jail Friday.
Deputies later learned that the Doncrest burglary victim is Beltran’s aunt.
